I identify with Peter Drucker’s late-twentieth-century concept of the “knowledge worker” who finds purpose and joy in pursuing, sharing, and applying knowledge. Through working in higher education, I am able to advance lifelong learning as both a personal practice and a public service. My objective as an instructional designer is to assist educators in refining their course design and delivery to maximum effect by ensuring learners are both challenged and engaged. As colleges and universities adapt to ongoing technological, economic, and cultural change, the courses they provide must reflect these realities.

My background in instructional design, technical writing, and librarianship informs how I develop learning experiences that are well-structured and effective. I draw on strategies such as project-based learning that focuses on the intersection of critical thinking and technological fluency and flipped instruction that promotes group work and individualized assignments. I leverage emerging instructional tools in a strategic way while remaining grounded in the fundamentals of instructional design and use analytics to drive continuous improvement. My ultimate goal is to foster communities around values like critical thinking, exploration, and the exchange of ideas for the betterment of all.
